What we do
A good meal in a friendly place makes a huge difference in life.
Enjoy tasty, locally sourced food, served with love.
TALIBE PHENOMENON
Which is?
With about 46% of the population below the poverty level, it is common for Senegalese parents to hand their children over to Marabus, who run the Daaras, where these boys live and study to become Islamic leaders. This is a sociocultural characteristic of the country.
STREET SITUATION AND EXPLORATION
Children in semi-slavery
What happens most of the time is that they are exploited, having to ask for money and food in the streets.
The reality of these boys is one of semi-slavery, begging and severe physical and verbal aggression.
THE CHEMIN'S ACTION
Rescue and Actionlhymentum
Chemin acts to rescue and shelter these boys. Our work is to guarantee housing, food, quality education, leisure and love.
In addition to attending school, the boys have tutoring and English classes with the Chemin teachers and have the support of monitors, a social worker and other members of the Orphanage team. In addition, they participate in social business processes - such as the bakery, which help maintain the Orphanage, also bringing professional experience to the elderly.
BACK TO SOCIETY
the thin phaselfrom the project
Chemin develops a holistic work, focusing on education because we understand that this is the greatest contribution we can make to reinsert children into society with a new perspective on life.
